The GayGames are a huge sports-event that takes place every four years. In 1998 they were held in Amsterdam. This year in Valencia. The great thing is that chess returns as a sport after 16 years (Cologne 2010).

You have to register for the GayGames and then you can add sports, such as chess

The chess tournament takes place June 30 – July 2 (3 days) but in my experience it is most fun to be there at the opening and closing ceremonies (June 27 and July 4), and visit other sports/cultural events/parties in between, or take a trip to Barcelona or so. We could opt for a shorter period of June 27 – July 2.
